Payroll Manager


Primarily responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all Company payroll and payroll-related activities.

What You ll Do:

  • Daily and biweekly activities:
    • Ensure complete and accurate processing of biweekly and off-cycle payrolls, including creation and posting of related accounting entries to the general ledger
      • Process garnishments and other deductions/withholdings
      • Track and process employees working in multiple jurisdictions
      • Provide payroll information to internal users as requested
    • Respond to employment and unemployment verification requests from external parties
    • Assist in resetting passwords within the HRIS/payroll system
    • Assist with entering new hires in to the system
    • Assist with processing status change forms
  • Other responsibilities:
    • Research and determine payroll implications for opening new business locations to ensure compliance with federal/state/local legal requirements
    • Maintain personnel files and ensure confidentiality of the data
    • Complete all necessary worksite reporting
    • Process relocation reimbursements and stock compensation activity through payroll based on data provided by third parties
    • Monitor and research semi-annual system updates and communicate changes to the organization as needed
    • Train new personnel on use of the HRIS/payroll system
    • Manager year-end requirements, including the W-2 process, establishment of the new payroll calendar, and year-end reporting
    • Assist in preparing all payroll-related schedules to support quarterly reviews and the year-end audit
    • Assist in preparing all necessary schedules to support the Company s annual 401(k) plan audit
    • Coordinate and supervise the work of Payroll Assistant (seasonal)
    • Perform ad hoc reporting, analysis, and project work as requested by management
    • Other responsibilities as needed

What We re Looking for:

  • Bachelor s or associates degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
  • 3-4 years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience with employees in multiple jurisdictions preferred
  • Strong PC and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
